Makiwara The makiwara is a wooden striking-post used in Okinawan and Japanese martial arts to train striking techniques. The makiwara is not a wooden heavy bag. I cannot emphasize that enough. The makiwara is like a good honing stone. It requires time and repetition. And most importantly it requires skill in operating it. But if you take the time to develop that skill then the results you can achieve are nothing short of astounding. The only real problem with the makiwara is where and how to mount them. The first makiwara were half buried in practitioners’ yards. Unfortunately, that is problematic if you don’t live on a subtropical island like Okinawa. This listing is for a 4ft by 4ft base to mount my floor mounted makiwara. This listing is only for the platform. Platform comes disassembled with all necessary hardware. In the box: 4ft x 4ft platform with bolts One last DISCLAIMER: Do not use a makiwara without the experience or supervision to keep you safe.
